3 months ago • 11 notesAt first, I couldn’t fathom it. Why would a Justice of the SCOTUS have the audacity to promote another country’s Consititution over ours? Putting aside that fact that Justice Ginsburg believes our Consititution to be “a live document” which pretty much means ANY judge can interpret it in ANY WAY, ANY WHERE depending on ANY circumstance that ANY litigant my bring to the court. Anywho, I just so happen to be looking into the South African Consitituion and two important facts jumped out at me:
First: The size of their Constitution in comparison to ours. The South African Constitution numbers a whopping 1241 pages! The U.S. Constitution however, is a meager 6 pages long. Naturally, this leads to a bigger government.
Second: The real reason as to why it’s so long? Entitlements. That’s right! The South African Consitition has the following “rights”: the “right” to housing, the “right” to healthcare and the “right” to free Education. Guess who’s gonna provide for all of those “rights?” Yeah and now we really know why one of the most liberal justice of the SCOTUS prefers a foreign consitituion over her own.

Wondering why Judge Gingsburg is in favor of a South African Constitution for Egypt vs. the U.S.A model? Wonder no more.

And let’s not forget their constitution advocates for an ‘open society’ based on ‘social justice’.
